We are keen to support every child and where necessary seek out appropriate advice and training from professionals.

Some members of staff have specific training in key areas allowing them to support children with a wide range of Special Educational Needs. This includes Portage, Makaton, supporting children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and supporting children with speech and language delay.

Supporting your child when they leave Hillfields Nursery School

When your child is moving to another nursery or on to primary school we will work with you and the new school to support a smooth transition. This will include the timely transfer of records and contacting the school’s SENCo or Inclusion Manager to share information. In some cases a transition meeting will be held with parents/carers and all professionals involved including the receiving school’s SENCo to pass on information and make transition arrangements. Staff from the new school may also visit Hillfields Nursery School, there may be transition visits for your child to their new setting and we may make resources such as a photograph book to support transition.
