Biography

I have been head teacher at Hillfields Nursery School since September 2016. I have worked as a teacher in Coventry for over 20 years. I have always enjoyed working in the Early Years and so when the opportunity to work at Hillfields Nursery School came up it was too good to miss. I live nearby with my daughter and our pets. My daughter is now at college, growing up too fast. Our dog, Sunny helps keep us fit with long walks at the weekends.

Biography

I have worked in childcare for over thirty years. Initially as a nursery officer in council run day nurseries and also as a manager in a private day nursery. I worked for the charity organisation NCH for four years before moving to Frederick Bird Primary School as a Learning Mentor. My role within school now is Family Support Worker. I worked at this school for nearly 12 years. I feel it is so important that children are given the best possible start as they begin their educational journey. As a governor at Hillfields Nursery School, I am keen to support the staff in ensuring the children here are given all the opportunities to enable them to reach their full potential.

Biography

I am a mum to two beautiful children – My daughter currently attends the nursery. Being a parent governor is a privileged position, which gives you the chance to be involved in the education of our children and inspire the next generation. Our children deserve the very best education we can provide for them and being a governor allows me to be part of a team whose main purpose is focused on the best outcomes for our children. I have over 10 years of teaching experience and have had a strong commitment to making sure all children in my care believe in themselves and have high aspirations, with a commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for all. I’m positive I can bring my knowledge and experience over to Hillfields Nursery and help support in any way I can.

Biography

I joined the governing body in April 2023 as a Staff Governor and have enjoyed being part of the team at Hillfields as it corresponds to my core teaching values of inclusion, community and continually striving to enrich each pupils’ learning and life experiences. I have worked in several diverse settings teaching across Early Years and KS1 and have experience of being co-located with a Special Educational Needs School, Autism Resource Unit and Children’s Centre. I have spent over sixteen years teaching, during which time I have held several positions of responsibility and have experience in numerous areas such as curriculum development, Maths and SEND. I believe that if I continue learning, I am a better teacher and I am passionate about ensuring an excellent education for all children. I have received training from the National Autistic Society to work with children and their families and outside of school, I have a love of travelling and I have volunteered in a remand centre in Kampala, Uganda and have taught in schools in Nepal. I adore the outdoors and enjoy exploring with my own daughter and I also enjoy keeping active and playing netball. In school, you will often hear me singing and chatting with our children as we enquire, explore, and learn through play!
